Under its work theme Public Health and Social welfare the MGC has a programme titled alternative sources of medicine and environmental health. In order to raise public awareness of homoeopathy healthcare system as a viable alternative system particularly to those, who have little help from the mainstream healthcare due to high cost or inaccessibility to the service providers of this medical system the MGC constituted a Homeopathy Advisory Committee on the 4th February  to drive this programme. The MGC is already sponsoring a free homoeopathy medical clinic weekly within its office premises. Plans are advanced to reach out to the war-affected resettlement villages of the northern and the eastern provinces and popularize homeopathy by opening up facilities for visiting homeopathy practitioners to treat patients and also for virtual consultation with doctors in Colombo through skype and phone etc.
